Good news for those who like to enjoy music al fresco while the sun shines: the Lake View Cemetery concert series is returning, albeit slimmed down to just three concerts, one per month.
The series kicks off with a popular performer who fills the slope beneath the Garfield Monument with dancers: Sam DeLeon and his Latin Jazz ensemble. Timbales player DeLeon has been leading his ensemble for 25 years, and his lively, percussive music never fails to get feet moving and hip swaying. His band includes the ubiquitous jazz pianist Jackie Warren, soloist and arranger for DeLeon’s groups, large and small.
The concert is free; rain date is Sunday July 11.
