Tri-C JazzFest’s 45th edition will be rolling out, once again at Playhouse Square Thursday June 20-Saturday June 22. But there are a couple of deadlines looming on the near horizon.
April 1 is the deadline to get a festival pass to attend all the concerts and assure you have a great seat for the ticketed concerts taking place in various Playhouse Square theaters. They include artists such as vocal group Take 6; composer/vocalist/visual artist Cécile Loren McSavant; jazz veterans multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller & keyboard player Bob James; the eclectic Scary Goldings (funk ensemble Scary Pockets and Hammond organist Larry Goldings); all-woman jazz quintet Artemis; Grammy-winning jazz/R&B vocalist Ledisi; and more. Single tickets go on sale April 14. Go here for ticketing information.
In addition, the call is out for local and regional bands in a range of styles, including jazz, Latin, reggae, blues and funk, to apply to play on the big outdoor stage Friday June 21 and Saturday June 22. That’s when the free event takes place from 3pm to midnight on the corner of East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue, which is closed to traffic and taken over by live music, vendors, a beer garden, food trucks and tents featuring cooking demonstrations and interviews with the artists performing. Bands can apply through April 3 @ 11:59pm and will be notified by May 6. Go here for complete information on how to apply.
