Convergence-Continuum theater’s “tweener” series features short-run pop-up shows in gaps between their regular productions, giving playwrights the chance to try out new works to see how look onstage.
This week it’s presenting a piece by local playwright Christopher Johnston, who’s well known from the many of his works that have been staged previously around the area. The new work, which he also directs, is called Moonrise After the Mountains Fall. It features Jennie Nasser as singer Maeve Rose O’Brainain, performing a pub in Doolin, Ireland with her guitar accompanist.
“She’s got a story to tell,” the synopsis tells us. “It’s tough enough that she’s unsure where her life is headed next. Now she’s wrestling with a deeply personal family secret linked to a discovery that has shaken all of Ireland. It’s one she may or may not reveal. Stop by the Little Bar Celt to find out.”
Steve Johnson composed the original the music for the show, and performs it onstage with Nasser. Get tickets here.
