Beer and Drama: Dobama Playwrights Group Shares Some Short Works at Irishtown Bend Taphouse

Mon 2/2 @ 7PM

Cleveland Heights’ Dobama Theatre, which presents new, cutting-edge and often socially relevant theater, also has a professional playwright unit called The Playwrights’ GYM. It meets monthly so writers can share what they’re working on and get informed feedback from other members. It currently has about a dozen members, including some very well-known local names and others we haven’t heard — yet.

In its GYM Shorts program, writers can get feedback from outside their own circle. It’s an evening where 5-10 minute short plays or excerpt are read in front of an audience, evoking hopefully even more helpful feedback.

This week’s GYM Shorts takes place at Market Garden Brewery’s Irishtown Bend Taproom in Ohio City (it’s the building with the big neon BEER sign). So you can order yourself a craft beer, take a seat and enjoy some new theater material. It’s free and open to the public. Go here for more information.
