Sun 11/1 @ 3PM
The current show at Cleveland Heights Foothill Galleries, which primarily shows experimental photography, features the work of photographer Dale Kistemaker, who attended Case Western Reserve University before graduating from The Ohio State University and teaching in San Francisco for 30 years prior to his 2008 retirement (He now lives in Tremont.)
The show, titled Shelf Life, is his first solo show in many years. When he returned to Northeast Ohio, he began to make typologies of the books that were of significance to him in a process he calls “working from the inside out.” “These contemplative, elegant, singular images reveal a rigorous visual biography of a talented and thoughtful artist,” the gallery says. The show will be on view through November, but if you’d like to know more about the ideas behind the work and how the images were created, Kistemaker will be doing an artist talk at the gallery Sunday November 1. It’s free and open to all.
