Husband-and-Wife Pianists Open Tri-C’s Classical Piano Series Season

Sun 10/11 @ 2PM

Throughout the year, the Tri-C Classical Piano Series presents free Sunday afternoon concert series by world-class pianists at the Metro campus auditorium.

The series kicks off this week with a pair of Italian pianists, Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Emanuela Friscioni, who met in a master class by pianist Aldo Ciccolini, in northern Italy. Their friendship led to collaboration — and marriage. Now the husband and wife tour extensively, playing two-piano/four-hands recitals and performing with orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe. Pompa-Baldi was the winners of the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999, and silver medalist of the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, recorded more than 30 albums, and taught at the Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Friscioni also teaches at CIM and Tri-C. The couple is currently based in Cleveland.

Their concert will include Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 5 (Fantasie-tableuax); Franz Liszt’s Les Preludes, S. 637; and Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2, Op. 17.

Although the concert is free, tickets are required. Go HERE to reserve them.
