The weather is cooling down now, so it’s time to get out of that lawn chair and work up a sweat when you won’t sweat just by sitting any longer. Head out to Chagrin Falls’ Family Life Center for its monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance.
Each dance starts with a lesson, so even if you barely know what “swing dance” is, or think you have two left feet, you’ll be ready to hit the dance floor when the band takes the stage. And that’s the other thing; you get to dance for two-and-a-half hours to music provided by some of the region’s best musicians who play danceable music including rockabilly, swing, R&B, early rock & roll and more. This month, longtime player in the NEO music scene Paul King and his cohort Carrie King, lead the Radio Rhythm IDOLS in a repertoire to Great American songbook standards, swing and rockabilly classics and more. And they’ll be joined by a next-gen musician in the local music scene, Cory Grinder.
Doors open at 6:30; the lesson happens from 7-8, with dancing to the band from 8-10:30. Wind down from 10:30-11PM with Electro swing, requests and line dancing.
The dances are family-friendly. You can come alone or bring a partner — doesn’t matter because dancers change partners all night long, and you’re bound to make some new friends.
