SHED Projects, a house gallery on the West Side of Cleveland, is known for its highly conceptual projects. This week it’s doing something a little different, and moving part of it offsite: SHORT CUTS, an international short film festival it’s produced featuring experimental (of course) artist films under five minutes in length. They says it “prioritizes formally adventurous, non-commercial work that often exists outside traditional film circuits, including experimental narrative, documentary, animation, moving-image art, and interdisciplinary practices,” offering short tastes of what boundary-pushing filmmakers are doing. It takes place at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque on Thursday October 1.
Then on Saturday October 3, at SHED Projects Gallery it will present juror/artist Lilan Yang at 7pm (7 PM), offering a performance that incorporates moving image, sound, and installation. In addition, there’ll be showcase of moving-image work by past and current St. Edward High School Film Department students.
Finally, Gordon Square’s Capitol Theatre will host a Sunday matinee screening of the films.
