By now, many of the most musically engaged people in northeast Ohio know the story of how Cleveland State University’s long-running radio station WCSB-FM was suddenly shut down last October by the college, its staff summarily evicted, after the school made a clandestine deal to turn over its signal to Ideastream Public Broadcasting for a jazz station. WCSB was just ramping up to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, a critical player in NEO’s influential college radio scene.
Its militant staff did not give up and took the station, now renamed XCSB, online. They now have a studio space on Waterloo Road across from the Beachland Ballroom. And this Sunday they’ll be hosting their first Flea Market at the Beachland as a fundraiser for the station. You’ll undoubtedly find a lot of music related stuff, including memorabilia such as posters, and books, comics and vintage items that appeal to rock & roll fans.
Admission is a $10 donation at the door to help get the station up and running against at full speed.
