As the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes celebrating its 60th anniversary, it’s throwing at party called Autumnfest: Harvest Moon offering a host of nature-related activities for all ages. Dress in ’60s style, bring the kids and take part in both free and ticketed activities.
Free activities include a wish wall to share birthday wishes, a “moondust” play zone with bubbles and sidewalk chalk, wand making, a photo booth, music and games with a DJ, and a chance to meet Luna the Wish Fairy, among other things. Among the ticketed activities are pumpkin painting, tree climbing, the Little Lunar Builders Corner, glitter tattoos, rides in the Rocket Car, and a Spin the Moon Prize Wheel. If you bring a birthday card with a message for the Nature Center, you get six activity tickets.
The “Harvest Table” will offer donuts, fritters, cider, hot cocoa s’mores and food trucks. There’s also an adults-only Lunar Lounge/Moonrise Tavern gazebo with a bar and music by noted local folksinger Charlie Mosbrook from 5:30-7pm — bring your own chair.
