The Song Recital Project brings baritone Jason Fuh and pianist Betty Myers to the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Ames Family Atrium for a program titled Fictional Lieder.
The lieder (German art songs) are real enough, but their subjects are drawn from romantic poetry and folklore and feature fictional characters including supernatural spirits, tragic lovers and bold heroes on quests. The songs, in which voice and piano share the weight of the story, explore the legends and heightened emotions that drove German Romanticism in the 19th century. The duo will perform songs by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann.
The program is free and no ticket is required.
