The mission of the northeast Ohio-based organization M.U.S.I.C. is to provide rising starts in the classical music world the chance to perform for audiences and for audiences to enjoy the next generation of players.
Often the organization presents house concerts with limited capacity, but that isn’t the case with its upcoming concert at the Church of the Western Reserve in Pepper Pike. There it will present music and dance performances with music from North and Latin American composer such as Cuban composer Ernesto Luceona, Mexican composer Manuel Ponce, and American composers George Gershwin, Samuel Barber, William Grant Still and Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and others, including a piece by 30-year-old Mexican composer Julian Fueyo, commissioned by M.U.S.I.C.
Musicians include saxophonist Perry Roth, vocalists Daniela Pyne, Colin DeMatteo and Hanyue Zang, violinists Michae Lawrence Smith and Matthildur Traustadottir, pianists Anna Grudskaya, Jackson Naglick, Luis Villa Roa and Levin Takeda, and cellists Elora Kares and Catherine Yates. Dance will be provided by Cleveland Ballet members Johan Mancebo and Nashializ Gomez Orengo, choreographed by Katherine Cowan.
