Once again, The Cleveland Orchestra gives its followers who don’t relish the drive out to Blossom Music Center the opportunity to hear them in their regular-season home in its Summers at Severance series.
“A Night at the Opera” will feature noted soprano Latonia Moore and Tenor Brandon Jovanovich, along with the Blossom Festival Chorus. Moore is a three-time Grammy winner from Texas who made her debut with New York City’s Metropolitan Opera in 2012 in Aida, which subsequently became one of her signature roles. She’s sung leading roles in other repertoire staples such as Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Porgy and Bess. While Moore sang gospel and jazz as a child, Jovanovich came to music late after first attending college on a football scholarship, majoring in theater, and doing a variety of theater- and music-adjacent jobs after moving to NYC before finding his footing as an opera singer who has performed in major opera houses around the world.
Led by conductor John Fiore, the Orchestra and vocalists will perform opera highlights including such familiar arias as “Nessun Dorma” from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot and “The Anvil Chorus” from Giuseppe Verdi’s Il Trovatore.
