Sun 3/15 @ 2PM
Immerse yourself in Japanese culture when two Cleveland-based ensembles perform at the Lakewood Public Library’s main branch as part of its series of programming celebrating Japanese-Americans and their contributions.
The afternoon kicks off with the Sho-Jo-Ji Japanese dancers, which formed in 1955 to showcase traditional styles of Japanese dance, performed to classical Japanese music.
Then, at 3:30 taiko drumming group Yume Daiko will take the stage, playing traditional and contemporary taiko drumming music, using a variety of Japanese percussion instruments used for cultural, theatrical and religious events. The library is warning that “This concert will be loud, very loud.”
The program is free and suitable for all ages —as long as the kids wear ear protection!
