Once again, the Slovenian community invited all of Cleveland to celebrate Kurentovanje, a Slovenian festival that greets the incoming (hopefully) spring, as furry kurenti clang giant bells to chase away the winter. Luckily it was sunny and in the 40s, making it a pleasant day to watch the parade coming down St. Clair featuring local organizations, civic leaders and politicians, polka bands, dance ensembles, church groups, a high school band, and the kurenti bringing up the rear. Inside the Slovenian home, kids frolicked in the basement while the Garrett Tatiana polka band played; upstairs there was food, drink, ethnic dancers and rock band LoConti. Out back were food vendors and a tent stage with the Chardon Polka Band doing its rowdy upbeat thing.
