Geauga Park District’s WILD About Winter Nights Offers a Lot of Chilly Fun — and a Bonfire

Sat 2/7 @ 6-9PM

As of Monday, the weather forecast says it may go down as low as 2 degrees on Saturday in Geauga County. That isn’t stopping the Geauga Park District from hosting its 2nd annual WILD About Winter Nights at Big Creek Park, to offer all the fun of an icy cold night when you may not want to get too far from the giant bonfire in the field near Maple Grove Shelter.

If you’re bold, brave and seriously bundled up, you can take a naturalist-led hike at 7 or 8pm, walk the self-guided luminary trail, check out the Nature touch table and display featuring nocturnal animals, try snowshoeing, and play some outdoor snow games including snow snakes and winter cornhole. They’ll all be equally cold! And in the shelter area by the bonfire, there’ll be free hot cocoa and s’mores and a nature-based playground to check out if you have any inclination to step away from the bonfires. You’re gonna need them.

It’s a free, all-ages event for all the local Eskimos – and it’s 100% outdoors. No registration is required. If the Maple Grove parking lot is full, there’ll be overflow parking at the Donald W. Meyer Center or Deep Woods Lodge with a shuttle to take you to the site. Need more info? Go to geaugaparkdistrict.org or call 440-286-9516.
