Asia Plaza Marks the Lunar New Year With Two Days of Festivities

Sat 2/14-Sun 2/15 @10AM-4PM

It’s time to celebrate the Lunar New Year, celebrated across multiple Asian cultures, as it kicks off the Year of the Horse.

There are many places to celebrate in northeast Ohio’s increasingly diverse Asian community, but a good place to start is at Asia Plaza where activities and performances will be taking place from 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Emcee Wayne Wong will kick off both days at 10am, followed by performances from 10:15am-2:15pm by such groups as the Kwan Lion Dance (pictured), Stellar Acrobatic Dance Academy, the Silk Road Cultural Collective, the AsiaTown Square Dance Team, the Shaolin King Fu Institute, the Soaring Grace Dance Group, the Sho-Jo-Ji Japanese Dancers and more. Stick around for the dance party with DJ Rox at 2:30 on Saturday and the K-Pop Dance Party with “A Sprinkle of Seoul” at 2:30 on Sunday.

There’ll also be food trucks, vendors, crafts and other activities, photo stations, resource tables and more. It’s free and open to all. Go here for more information and a full schedule.
