Past Present Portraits from the LAND is the next show put together by curator Liz Maugans for the Yards Project Gallery in the Warehouse District. In simplest terms, the 11 noted photographers whose work is in the show have submitted portraits of other Clevelanders, reflecting a range of individuals, artistic styles and photographic mediums: film and digital, black and white and color, and even hand-tinted images and experimental processes.

“These portraits are both intimate and civic—stories of artists, workers, dreamers, and neighbors who together embody the pulse of a city that continually reinvents itself,” we’re told. “From the factory floor to the stage, from the neighborhoods to the lakeshore, these portraits reflect both those who were born and bred here and those who have passed through, leaving indelible marks on the city’s cultural and social landscape.”

Photographers whose work is in the show include Robert Banks, Bruce Checefsky, Hadley K. Conner, Daniel Levin, Bryon Miller, Shawn Mishak, John Skrtic, Peter Larson, Stormy Sweitzer, Bob Perkoski, Anastasia Pantsios, Cynthia Penter, and Gina Washington. The show opens with a free reception on Thursday January 22 and will be on view through February 28. Get more info here.
