St. Brigid’s Fest in Ohio City Celebrates Wellness, Renewal and Creativity

Sat 1/31 @ noon-4PM

It seems like people are always looking for a new festival to celebrate, bringing fringe celebrations to larger audiences. Cinco de Mayo was unheard of in the great community a few years ago; ditto Kurentovanje. And now, we’re getting an Irish festival called St. Brigid, described as “inspired by the ancient Celtic Festival of Imbolc and the spirit of St. Brigid, a figure rooted in renewal, healing and inspiration.”

The debut St. Brigid’s Light the Land Festival will take place at Forest City Brewery, where attendees will find warmth, fun and creative activities to “celebrate the stirrings of spring.” (I think you’re a little premature, guys. I’m not seeing it.)

The events will feature such hands-on crafts as lantern-making, Brigid’s cross weaving, and printmaking with Future Ink Graphics, a handmade vendor market, robust, seasonal food, live performances including dance by the Brady Campbell Irish Dance School, music by Katie Cramer and Colin Donahue, and “fireside poetry” by Bridget Kriner. There’ll also be a Wellness & Renewal Zone if you just need to chill.

The event takes place inside and out, and it’s family-friendly and, they say, “focused on inclusivity, seasonal reflection, and mental well-being.” Go here to get tickets.
