Rocky River Chamber Music Society Presents Trio Inspired by African and Afro-Caribbean Music

Mon 1/26 @ 7:30PM

The Rocky River Chamber Music Society shakes things up a little this month. Instead of the usual classical chamber ensemble they book for most concerts, they’re bringing in the northeast Ohio-based African West Percussion Trio, which is ensemble in residence at Baldwin Wallace University.

The group comprises Jaime Ryan, Ryan Corb and Josh Ryan, three white dudes (all those Ryans!) who have been inspired by African and Afro-Caribbean music along with avant-garde western contemporary music. In addition to their backgrounds in jazz and classic music, they’ve studied extensively with masters of African and Afro-Caribbean music to bring together that music and western music.

When they perform at West Shore Unitarian Church for the rocky River Chamber Music Society, their program will include traditional music as well as 21st-century compositions. The concert is free and open to all. And it will be livestreamed on YouTube.  Go to RockyRiverChamberMusic.org for more information.
