Dobama Presents Cleveland Premiere of Play About Two Lonely Immigrant Women

Thu 1/29-Sun 2/22

The next play mounted by Dobama Theatre is, like many of its productions, a Cleveland premiere. The 2023 play The Heart Sellers was written by midwestern American playwright Lloyd Suh, who was a finalist for the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play The Far Country.

The Heart Sellers, set at Thanksgiving 1973, a couple of years before Suh’s birth, revolves around a pair of homesick, lonely 23-year-old recent Asian immigrants with absentee workaholic husbands. They bond after meeting at a grocery store, and on Thanksgiving with a bottle of wine and a frozen turkey, they talk about their new country and their hopes for the future.

Julia Sosa directed the two-actor play, which features Nova Gomez and Kat Shy. Go here for tickets.
