Sat 12/6 @ 4-8PM
One of the area’s most festive holiday traditions is Light Up Lakewood, taking place in downtown Lakewood. But you don’t have to be a resident of Lakewood to come out and enjoy what this dense inner-ring suburb has to offer (the biggest concentration of locally owned eateries in the area!) ramped up for the holidays.
It all starts at 4pm with the holiday street festival, where you can visit some of those restaurants or get something from a food truck, and browse the holiday market at the Lakewood Masonic Temple. The Family Fun Zone will offer the Holiday Train, a 25-foot inflatable snowman, ice carvings, a green-screen photo booth and Buddy the Elf and the Grinch mingling with the crowd. And there’ll be free hot chocolate, and Siberian Huskies to pet.
For adults, there’s the Light Up Lakewood Beer Garden, with a variety of harder drinks on offer. And there’s entertainment all evening , with performances by the Peddlers of Mirth Carolers, Lakewood’s own Big Hoke and DJs Byron and Rachel.
The Light Up Lakewood Holiday Parade will step off at 5pm, followed by the tree lighting at 6:30. And of course Santa will be front and center.
It’s all free and open to people of all ages.
