Burning River Roller Derby Holds Annual "Black and Blue" Benefit

Sat 11/22 @ 1PM

Cleveland flat-track roller derby league, Burning River Roller Derby, will be back at their regular home at the Cleveland Heights Community Center this weekend, kicking off their 20th season with their annual charity event called “Black and Blue.” This year’s chosen beneficiary probably won’t win them many brownie points: it’s the controversial Ideastream Public Media, which colluded with Cleveland State University to take over the college radio station WCSB to replace the student-run format with 24/7 mainstream jazz. But you’ll still get to watch the skaters have fun.

This is an intra-league bout with the teams faces off against each other, including in full-contact musical chairs. And the event will also feature an exhibition game from the men’s flat-track roller derby league, Cleveland Guardians Roller Derby.

Doors open at noon; action starts at 1 with. The Guardians, followed at 3pm by the Burning River skaters.  Geberal admission is $15; senior are $8; kids 6-12 are $5.
