Heights Art's Close Encounters Concert Celebrates Ravel—and Mozart and Shaw

Heights Arts’ Close Encounters concerts provide classical music lovers with the chance to experience music by chamber ensembles of the area’s best musicians in intimate settings.

Its upcoming concert, In Celebration of Ravel, will take place at a private home in Shaker Heights (concertgoers get the address after purchasing tickets), It concludes with 1904 Ravel’s String Quartet, but prior to the intermission it will celebration two other composers. They’ll open with the String Quartet in G Major by the biggest star in the classical music firmament—Mozart—followed by Plan and Elevation: The Grounds of Dumbarton Oaks by a relative newcomer, 43-year-old Caroline Shaw, winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Music, inspired by five gardens in Washington D.C.

Featured musicians are violinists Ioana Missits and Mari Sato, violist Lisa Boyko and cellist Mingyao Zhao.
