New Ghosts is a local concert production group that presents the sort of challenging artists that will never play large rooms for pop music fans. So of course, they bring most of their events to a serious listening room, the BOP STOP.
This week, they’re hosting a new trio formed under two years ago, called Filament. Despite this project being new, the musicians — sax player Alex Carter, pianist Tobe Tsuchiya and bassist Danilo Randjic-Coleman are longtime friends (Tobe and Alex began playing together in college in 2005) who’ve played together in various combinations and with other musicians in the improvised music scene in New York where they’re based.
They got together as Filament in early 2023 to use jazz instrumentation in a wide variety of styles, with influences ranging from film music to death metal, juggling avant-garde sounds and more popular musical genres. They released their first album titled Once Upon a Time on the Sun, in March of this year.
Get tickets to the concert here. It will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP’s Youtube Channel at showtime.
