The 16th annual Pagan Pride celebration, taking place on the square in downtown Bedford, is a three-day meeting of those who practice or are interested in alternative spiritualities. All open-minded people are welcome!
If you go, you can take in music and dance performances, drum circles, workshops and vendors offering herbs, candles, clothing and other “new age” type items.
Long-running local trio Primal Rhythm launches the weekend with a drum circle at 5:30 Friday evening. The Crooked River Crones Twisted Witches return with their Broom Dance at 7. Oberon Zell kicks things off at noon on Saturday followed by singer/songwriter Erin Kapferer (who goes by the stage name of “Noon”!) at 12:30. Throughout the day performers such as the Tribe Ostara Tribal Dance, fingerstyle acoustic guitarist Brian Henke, Cowboy Princess Bridge, Primal Rhythm, Dust Bowl Faeries, and Frenchy and the Punk keep the stage hopping until 10pm.
Oberon Zell again hosts the opening ceremony at noon on Sunday, followed by Primal Rhythm leading a drum circle from 12:3-1:30, the Dust Bowl Faeries, Shuvani Dance, the Crooked River Crones Crowning of the Crones, Frenchy and the Punk, Cowboy Princess Brigade and a farewell closing at 6 by Oberon Zell.
Saturday and Sunday workshops cover topics such as Introduction to Druidry, Introduction to Wicca, Druidic Blessing Rite, Green Divination, Endangered Traditions, Witchcraft for the Disabled, and Harnessing the Power of Symbols. More than two dozen vendors will be offering things such as candles, incense and perfumes, body products, baked goods, clothing, crystals, jewelry and spiritual art, as well as tarot and psychic readings.
Pagan Pride is free and open to all. Get full information at clevelandpaganpride.
