Tonight the Cleveland Orchestra returns to Severance Hall, assuming they can make their way through the Blossom Music Center traffic last weekend, for another evening of Summers at Severance.
This week’s program will include a crowd-pleaser — a Beethoven symphony. Symphony No. 2 which debuted in 1803 when the composer was in his early 30s isn’t one of the big program standards, but hey, Beethoven in Beethoven. The program also includes Igor Stravinsky’s Jeu de Cartes, ballet music based on a poker game, and Maurice Ravel’s music from the ballet Daphnis et Chloé. You’ll be dancing out of Severance Music Center!
The orchestra will be led by 39-year-old Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali. Get tickets here.
