Once again, for the eighth year, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is bringing back its wildly popular Asian Lantern Festival, offering an extra reason (in addition to tigers and other large cats) to visit the zoo. Once daylight starts to fade, the monumental lit-up sculptures spring to life, including fantastical sculptures of things such as ocean creatures, a four-story hydrangea and butterfly tree, animals of the Nile, a walk-through tunnel and a dozen illuminated dragons, including a 100-foot-long “Fire and Ice” dragon display.
In addition, visitors can enjoy food from the Asian Food Market and take in hourly acrobatic performances. You can walk through the Zoo to enjoy the lights Thursdays through Sundays and take a drive-through visit on certain nights. It runs through Saturday August 24, but if history is any indication, it’ll probably be extended. Still, don’t wait — catch it now!
