Northeast Ohio film lovers — or at least those who love big-budget superhero movies — are all excited about the release of the new Superman movie this week which was filed in Cleveland last year. It features a new actor, David Corenswet, in the title role.
So the Greater Cleveland Film Commission (GCFC) is hosting a special pre-release event called Be A Cleveland Film Hero: A GCFC Fan Celebration on at Phoenix Theatres Great Northern Mall, the day prior to the film’s official premiere. The film will screen at 7pm on a huge screen with immersive sound. But before that, starting at 5, there’ll be food, music, photo ops and a raffle for items connected with Superman films. There’ll even be a display of items from the Cleveland Public Library’s exhibit The Superman Homecoming: The Heritage of Ohio’s Own Superhero to browse. Tickets are $50 and include a Cleveland Super Guardian shirt. Get info at ClevelandFilm.com.
Can’t make that? There’s an opening night screening at the Capitol Theatre in Gordon Square on the official opening day, July 11. There’ll be a live podcast hosted by The Siegel & Shuster Foundation of Cleveland and The House of El and all afterparty next door at Superelectric Pinball with free play for all movie attendees. Get tickets here.
