Bainbridge Swing Dance Offers Live Music by Bob Frank and Friends

Sat 8/2 @ 7-11PM

The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance offers multiple benefits: the chance to get some fun exercise, to meet new friends and to hear some outstanding local musicians.

The all-ages, family-friendly events kick off with a class at 7pm so even if you’ve never set foot on a dance floor, you’ll know all the basic steps. And the experienced dancers are friendly — they’ll help you learn. Then at 8pm, the band takes the bandstand for two hours of live music for dancing by top regional acts who perform lively user-friendly mixes of R&B, pop, jazz, swing, blues and more. Come with your family, a partner or come alone. It doesn’t matter because in swing dancing, you change partners all night.

This month the music will be provided by Bob Frank and Friends. Guitarist/vocalist Frank has been part of the area music scene for more than four decades so he knows all the best players to stock a band. He was a force behind Blue Lunch, another regular on the Bainbridge Swing Dance schedule, for 25 years before leaving about five years ago for a blues-focused solo career.

For those not tired out after two-three hours on the dance floor, the event has recently started a sort of “afterparty” from 10-11pm called Electro Swing, with curated recorded playlist.

The dance takes place as usual at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls. Go here for more information.
