Young Composers Showcase Their Works at the Happy Dog

Wed 4/16 @ 7:30PM

For nearly 30 years, the Contemporary Youth Orchestra has given talented teenage musicians from across the region the chance to work with contemporary composers — both classical and pop — and perform their music. They’ve done frequent collaborative performances with a wide range of composers and musicians.

And some of them are encouraged — and inspired — to make their own music, with a program called C Y We Write, where they’re mentored by professional composers and given the opportunity to write an original work or arrange an existing one. And this Wednesday a handful of them will have a chance to hear their finished work performed by members of the orchestra at the Happy Dog in Gordon Square, hosted by Classical Revolution. Pieces include Evan Dela Vega’s “Dementia,” Anna Maurer’s “Denounement,” Cameron Sheldon’s “Allegro for Pierrot Ensemble and Percussion,” and Alisdair Welty’s “Reverie.”

Admission is free.
