The Treelawn Social Club’s new monthly Solidarity Series, sponsored by the Morning Glory Angel and Musicians Local 4, is now in its third month. It features some of the veterans of the area music scene you may have been too busy to catch lately — but now is a great time.
This month’s event features singer/guitarist/songwriter Alex Bevan, whose career stretches back more than 55 years to when he was a teenager hanging out in local folk clubs. Since then he’s released dozens of albums and now, at age 74, he’s still cranking out a huge variety of tunes — tender, funny, political, narrative — and playing guitar and singing better than ever.
He’ll be joined by his good friend and music scene stalwart, Austin Walkin’ Cane Charanghat, who is known for his affecting performances of acoustic blues, accompanying himself with his deft slide guitar playing.
The shows are free and open to all — no reservations are needed.
