CPT’S 2025 Danceworks Series Kicks Off with Spanish-Flavored Program

Thu 4/17-Sat 4/19 @ 7PM

This week, Cleveland Public Theatre kicks off another season of its Danceworks series, five weekends during which it showcases a variety of local dance ensembles working in a range of movement styles.

It opens this weekend with one of the area’s veteran troupe, the Ohio Contemporary Ballet (formerly Verb Ballets). It will perform a program called An Evening in Spain, featuring two pieces. There’s a one-act version of Georges Bizet’s iconic opera Carmen, reimagined by the company’s associate artistic director Richard Dickinson, along with a performance of Bolero, choreographed by the late Heinz Poll, who founded and led the influential Ohio Ballet from 1968-1999.

Future weekends feature Inlet Dance Theatre, Blakk Jakk Dance Collective, Ajayi Dance, Christina Lindhout and Blissed Out Human Collective.
