Sat 12/14 @ noon
On Saturday December 14, Cleveland Heights’ Coventry Village will be celebrating Winter Wonder, a full day of activities and special events. The street will be buzzing with activities including ice sculptors, photos with Santa and live music. Stop in at the Grog Shop and its downstairs bar, the B-Side, for the Jingle Bell Holiday Shop from 11am-5pm with 40 vendors offering an array of mostly affordable items. Brittany Benton’s Record Shop will be doing a pop-up and Big Fun is back on the street for the holidays in its old spot offering vintage toys and novelty items that appeal to both kids and adults.
Be sure to head over to the Coventry P.E.A.C.E Building, there’s a holiday sing-along with the Singers’ Club of Cleveland from 4:15-4:45pm. That leads up to the Lantern procession at 5pm, where neighbors parade through the area brandishing handmade lanterns made from recycled materials during lantern-making workshops hosted by the legendary Robin VanLear, founder of Parade the Circle. It starts at the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. Building and winds up at the Pekar Plaza at Coventry and Euclid Heights Boulevard, emphasizing how the Cleveland Heights’ Library’s short-sighted, upcoming mothballing of the P.E.A.C.E Building and dispersing its creative community for no apparent reason tears a chunk out of Coventry Village.
After the procession, you can conclude your day with dancing, snacks and holiday karaoke at the B-Side Lounge — or stop in one of the street’s numerous eateries for a warm meal Go here for more information.
