One of the most exciting entertainment options in Cleveland right now is the shows put on by Cleveland Burlesque, the 20-year-old company founded by Cleveland’s most accomplished burlesque performer, Bella Sin. Dubbed “Cleveland’s Burlesque Queen,” she’s the area’s premiere producer of burlesque shows, including the annual August Ohio Burlesque Festival, which brings in performers from all over the world. She’s attained a national reputation as well, ranking among the nation’s most influential burlesque performers. She’s provided training and performances opportunities for locals that’s helped to create a large pool of outstanding Northeast Ohio burlesque talent, with a commitment to diversity in all areas: race, gender, size and performance style, a reminder of how people of all types make up a rich and vibrant cultural fabric that would be poorer for their absence.

Cleveland Burlesque presents a year-round schedule of shows at the Beachland Ballroom in addition to the Ohio Burlesque Festival, with a variety of themes. Last year, it produced a show in which performers presented numbers based on songs by ABBA. This weekend, they’re doing another music-themed evening that’s likely to be even more spectacular and glitzy: the Killer Queen Burlesque Revue, featuring songs by the band Queen.

We’re promised that “This electrifying show fuses sultry striptease, bold choreography, and jaw-dropping performances, bringing Queen’s greatest hits to life on stage in a whole new way.”

Many of the performers will be familiar to local burlesque fans including the statuesque Lola Loveletter, the imposing Holly Grail, creatively humorous Heather & Lace, and lovely languid Rose Faluda, as well as Bella Sin herself, of course. Monica Mod will offer her torchy live vocals while Dean Heartthrob brings a touch of drag to the stage. Trans performer Mx Midnight Lily, Columbus’ Fyre Storm and northeast Ohio burlesque entertainers Bia Jewel and Dahlia D’Luxe round out the bill.

As usual, Ken Schneck, comedian, author and publisher of Ohio’s Buckeye Flame LGBTQ+ independent media source, will emcee. Get tickets here.

If for some reason you can’t make this show, never fear: Cleveland Burlesque popular Star Wars Burlesque: The Tease Strikes Back is coming up December 6 at the Beachland. And the following weekend, for the second year, it’ll be presenting Tease the Season, a Burlesque Holiday Spectacular (Part Deux) at Cleveland Public Theatre, four nights of holiday-themed performances that sold out last year. (Get tickets for this year here.) They run this year from Thursday December 12 through Sunday December 15.
