One of the most shocking U.S. Supreme Court decisions recently — among many others – was its declaration that the president is essentially above the law no matter what he does. (Or “she,” but the decision was clearly made to protect Donald Trump and they’d sure limit its scope should Kamala Harris be elected and do something the right doesn’t like almost inevitable.)
The next edition of Forums that Matter: Coffee, Conversation & Community at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland is titled “President or Monarch? Supreme Court Immunity Ruling Unpacked.” Case Western Reserve Professor Emeritus of Law Jonathan Entin will talk about the potential impact of this decision which Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said has basically turned the presidential into a king, annihilating traditional check and balances and opening the door to a president using his office for revenge against opponents — something Trump has vowed over and over he will do.
The forum is free and open to all. And few churches are as welcoming of all types of people as the Unitarian-Universalists.
