Thu 9/5-Fri 9/6
The 5th annual Cleveland Photo Fest at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative opened with a bang. A preview showing of its Mayors show, featuring the mayors of every one of Cuyahoga County’s distinct jurisdictions, photographed by a group of area photographers, attracted 35 mayors, city hall administrators and even county executive Chris Ronayne, for a packed house. The official opening the next day was even more packed, with Arlene Pachasa hosting a full gallery of friends, family and admirers for her show Pretty Intimate: Film and Fashion while Benjamin Colón-Nieves greeted visitors at his display of work, titled Ataxaria. And awards were given out for People’s Choice winners in the women’s self-portrait show and the hit of the evening, Catography, featuring photos of —you guessed it — cats. The work is on view through Sunday September 29, and is free and open to all.
