In the last several years, the nonprofit Abrepaso Flamenco has been introducing Clevelanders to this Spanish art form, with performances in a variety of settings around town, featuring both local and guest performers, as well as education programs for all ages.
This weekend it’s presenting an intimate, stripped-down look at the skills that go into making up flamenco with acoustic performances and the chance to meet the artists face-to-face. They include Abrepaso’s founder and artistic director Alice Blumenfeld, a skilled dancer and tireless advocate for her art form; guest performer Marijo Temo, a classical/flamenco guitarist and vocalist and former dancer; and Cuban flamenco guitarist, who studied in Spain, lived in Colombia, Florida and California, and worked with companies and artists all over the world.
The event takes place at Cleveland arts hub, the Brownhoist. Get tickets here.
