NE Ohio Arts Leaders Talk About Changing Landscape for the Arts at City Club

Fri 4/19 @ 11:30AM

In the past several years, there have been a slew of changes and disruptions the art northeast Ohio arts scene, with the pandemic, upending a lot of projects and organizations and creating struggles for artists; the formation of the Assembly for the Arts to advocate for area arts groups and creators; the appointment of the city of Cleveland’s first “arts czar”; controversy swirling around Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, the organization tasked with distributing the arts tax money; and the looming renewal campaign for that arts tax.

In light of all this, the City Club is hosting a panel called “The Changing Landscape of the Arts in Cleveland.” That new arts czar, Rhonda K. Brown, whose proper title is “Senior Strategist for Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy,” will conduct a conversation with Assembly for the Arts president/CEO Jeremy Johnson to talk about how the group will try to motivate voters to renew the tobacco levy in light of the challenges that have emerged.

The forum will also be livestreamed at the City Club website. Questions can be tweeted to @TheCityClub or text  330-541-5794.
