Former Trump White House Official Talks About Her Book

Wed 2/28 @ 6:30PM

Among the many dysfunctions of the Trump administration was its skeletal staffing, with responsible positions often filled by kids just out of college, revealing the former president’s lack of a network of knowledgeable, experienced people. Some of those kids were true believers — the type who headed young Republican clubs on campus and complained about “woke” articles in their college newspapers. And others opened their eyes, looked around them, grew and learned from their experience.

One of the latter was Cassidy Hutchinson who served as an assistant to chief of staff Mark Meadows. She started as an intern for Senator Ted Cruz and Republican House whip Steve Sacalise right out of college, and later in the White House, becoming an aide to Meadows in 2020, and quickly working her way up to a lead role in his office. But when she testified before the House January 6 committee in 2022, despite pressure to protect Trump, she broke with Trumpworld and told what she had seen and heard in the White House as the insurrection unfolded. She was then just 24.

In 2023 she published Enough, a book about her experience and how she went from being idealistic about governance to being disillusioned about those she worked for. She’ll be in person at the Hudson Library & Historical Society for an author event as part of the Libby Walker Women’s Studies Series. The program is free, but registration is required. Hudson’s Learned Owl Book Shop will have books available for purchase and signing.
