Since 1994, Big Al’s Diner has been an unpretentious go-to spot for comfort food on the trendy Larchmere strip just north of Shaker Square. It’s a neighborhood hangout, but also a place where anyone can stop by for a breakfast or lunch of classic American foods that won’t empty the pocketbook or feature obscure ingredients prepared in unfamiliar ways. Breakfasts are eggs with bacon and sausage, omelets, corned beef hash, pancakes and waffles. Lunch is sandwiches and burgers. There’s a kids’ menu and coffee refills are free. It’s the kind of place where you could easily become a regular. Open Wednesday Sunday 7:30am-1:30pm.
