The spectacular United Bank lobby on the southwest corner of the Lorain Road/West 25th Street intersection was turned into a fine dining restaurant called Crop Bistro by Steve Schimoler. That restaurant closed several years ago, despite others trying to make a go of it after Schimoler left. But it’s finally enjoying new life as the more casual Bartleby, which opened in the summer of 2022 under Chef Matt DePante, working with consulting chef Dante Boccuzzi.
That soaring lobby has been divided to create more intimate spaces, and the menu features upscale versions of more casual dining items, including salads, pizzas, pasta bowls, burgers and appetizers to share. A curated list of cocktails, local craft beers and wines accompanies them, and there’s also a “late-night tavern menu” with smaller item.
