Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is bringing back its popular Asian Lantern Festival for the fifth year, once again filling the grounds with an array of lighted decorations many of them representing animals ranging from endangered species to fairytale dragons. New this year is the RainForest light zone, a taste of the future RainForest Gallery.
But Asian culture will inform every aspect of this event. Every hour there’ll be live performances by acrobats, dancers, foot jugglers, contortionists and more. And there’ll be a variety of Asian-influence food available throughout the festival, with some local chefs providing edibles at the Asian Food Market.
The festival runs Wednesday through Sunday through August 21. It includes a drive-through option on Wednesdays July 6-August 17. Go here for tickets.
