For 47 years, Herb Ascherman has been known as one of the area’s preeminent photographers, specializing in black & white portrait photography. He’s done numerous suites of portraits, including Cleveland-area artists, Native-Americans and members of the Cleveland Orchestra. He’s developed expertise in large-format photography and platinum prints. And he’s also one of the co-founders of the Cleveland Photo Fest, which debuted in 2019 and will return for its third edition in the fall.
Among other things, he has an enormous personal collection of photography books: 2,387 to be exact, unless he’s bought more since he providing that number. He’ll be speaking at an Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (NOBS) forum on “Photo Projects and the Books that Inspired Them.”
The forum is online via Zoom and is hosted by Loganberry Books. Email Freddy@logan.com for the link.
