Cleveland Verses Is looking for Public Input on Its Next Musical Charity Project

Fri 12/31

Local Cleveland band The Modern Electric, which launched its large-scale presence in the local music scene after winning the 2008 High School Rock Off, founded its grant-making nonprofit in 2017. But it didn’t really get into high gear until last year, when it responded to the pandemic by rounding up a whole bunch of its colleagues to record covers of Bob Dylan tunes to raise money for local musicians and venue employees sidelined by closed clubs and disappearing gigs.

They’re currently planning a follow-up and now through December 31, they’re soliciting votes on what artist should be the subject of the next series of covers and what cause should be the next beneficiary. There are four acts under consideration: Prince, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani/No Doubt and AC/DC. The potential beneficiaries include homelessness, domestic violence, human trafficking and drug addiction.

Go here to vote.
