08.23-28.2021 Cleveland Walls! Mural Fest

Mon 8/23-Sat 8/28

The international POW! WOW! Mural Festival swept into Cleveland’s Midtown neighborhood for a week for Cleveland Walls!, a mural-painting spree along Carnegie, Euclid, Payne and side streets that found both local and out-of-town artists working in the muggy heat, leaving behind colorful walls we can enjoy for a long time.

The event culminated with a Block Party on Saturday, taking place at a space at 71st and Euclid. An empty building offered more walls to be painted, by artists and the public; inside local nonprofit Shooting Without Bullets created numerous installations. Outside vendors offered food and herbal body products, an inflatable skating rink provided more entertainment, films, including the new film about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, were screened on the giant outdoor screen, and rappers (including Cleveland legend Suave Gotti), poets and vocalists, such as the powerful Ngina Fayola, performed with a live band.
