Local Painter Eileen Dorsey Forges New Directions in Cain Park Show

Fri 7/9 @ 3-8PM

Northeast Ohio painter Eileen Dorsey isn’t just tireless about creating new work, she’s equally tireless about promoting it. She opens her studio doors at 78th Street Studios every Third Friday to chat with visitors, and during the pandemic kept in touch with her engaging “What’s on the Easel Wednesdays” Facebook Live features. And recently, she’s been getting out into the community with her mural work.

Her best-known works are her imaginative forest landscapes with their rainbow of colors. But her upcoming show, Out of the Shadows, opening at Cain Park’s Feinberg Gallery during the Cain Park Arts Fest, indicates new directions for the artist based, she says, “on personal experience, how to survive as a business owner during a divorce, creating art during a painful time, and rediscovering herself.”

The familiar Eileen will still be clear in the new work but it features some different imagery, including “figures, faces, spaces and hidden symbolism, ready to be found by the viewer.”

The show opens Friday July 9 from 3-PM, during Arts Fest hour; there’s an artist reception from 5-7pm if you’d like to meet Eileen. The show will be on view through Sunday September 12.
