David Mayfield Parade Plays Outdoor Concert on Church Lawn

Sat 6/19 @ 5:30-8PM

While some of the big summer concert series — think Edgewater Live or Wade Oval Wednesdays — were scrapped this year because of the advance planning involved, smaller outdoor series and concerts are popping up all over northeast Ohio in community centers and suburban parks and church lawns.

The nonprofit Northeast Ohio Musical Heritage Association is on board, presenting its “Old Music for a New World” picnic concert series on the lawn of First Baptist Church in Cleveland Heights, offering a series of concerts by various local roots music artists.

You bring the picnic — stuff that basket with what you want to eat and drink because nothing is sold on site — and they bring the music to entertain you. This Saturday June 19, that means the David Mayfield Parade, featuring the Kent-area musician who’s known for his work in both bluegrass and indie rock and a combination of them. He’ll be joined by guitarist/songwriter Joe WOnderle, a northeast Ohio native.

Bring your lawn chair or blanket, as well as a mask to wear when you’re not seated with your group. No pets except service dogs, so leave the otters at home. Picnicking starts at 5pm; music starts at 5:30. Tickets are sold in circles of four, ranging from $40 for four in the back to $200 for four in the front
