Lake Erie Ink’s Kids’ Comic Con is back for its eighth year of workshops and panel discussions with experienced comic book writers, inspiring and teaching youth the art of comic books — both writing and drawing. On Sat 2/28, step into a one-of-a-kind convention with fellow young artists and writers. Last year, the event drew nearly 150 kids and teens from across Northeast Ohio.

Doors open at 9am and workshops begin at 10am with all-ages programming running until 3pm. Lunch will be sold onsite, though kids are welcome to bring their own. Costumes are encouraged! Workshops, hands-on activities and panels will cover all of the essentials of comic book design and also branch off into creative workshops such as the “Create Your Own Comic Book Character in Clay!” Youth will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of experienced artists of different styles, experiences and backgrounds.

A teen-only program will debut this year for grades 6-12 from 5-8pm. Featuring a “Make Change with Comics” panel, teens will have the opportunity to learn the difficult balance of making money through art while simultaneously making a positive difference in their community. The program will also feature a cosplay fashion show and a Snack ’n’ Sketch ’zine exchange.
