Time to Think About Summer: Kent Art & Wine Fest Looking for Artist Submissions NOW

Sat 6/6 @ noon-9PM

It may be hard, when you’re looking out the window at the first major snowfall of the year, to wrap your mind around that time when you’ll be tossing on a tank top and shorts or a sundress to head out to a festival or outdoor concert on a 70-degree sunny day. But it’s coming! Here at CoolCleveland, we’re already working on our annual summer festival guide.

And many of those festivals are already booking artists, food vendors and bands for 2020. If you’re in one of those categories, it’s getting to be time to get those applications and submissions out. One festival already asking for submissions is the 14th annual Main Street Kent Art & Wine Festival, taking place Sat 12/6 @ noon-9PM. The festival features local artists, musicians and bands in various genres, local food trucks and restaurants and Ohio wineries on Kent’s Hometown Bank Plaza and adjacent streets.

Artist applications are now open for those working in watercolor, oil/acrylic, clay, photography, sculpture, graphics/drawing, mixed media, and others media. Deadline is March 20 for the first round of submissions, and artists who meet this deadline get first priority for booth location. There’s a second deadline April 17. Apply at forms.gle/fZ2sJ9n8FEmHWRLG6. For details about applying, go to mainstreetkent.org.

And we’d again like to remind bands of the expanded number of opportunities to play a Cleveland Metroparks summer concert series. Last summer the Metroparks hosted more than 65 concerts and special outdoors events at multiple locations, a dramtic increase from just a few years ago.

The park district is currently accepting applications for bands of all genres — both original and cover bands — to play at these concerts, as well as special events. The deadline for submission is February 24; there’s more information and an application form at clevelandmetroparks.com/concerts. The concert lineup will be announced in May.
